(Rock Island, WA) Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies were investigating a trespassing complaint when they discovered an illegal marijuana grow. Sheriff Harvey Gjesdal received a report from a rancher that people were trespassing on his property.
He stated that family members had found what appeared to be a campsite in a canyon in a remote area northeast of the City of Rock Island. When Deputies hiked into the canyon they found a tent, sleeping bags, camping supplies, and approximately 3,000 marijuana plants. The plants were destroyed and the camp was hauled away.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information on who the trespassers were and who was cultivating the illegal marijuana grow. Anyone wishing to claim the camping equipment is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office for assistance.
