Arlen K. Blum

Wenatchee, WA

Arlen K. Blum, age 74, of Wenatchee, WA, entered into rest at Central Washington Hospital, following an extended illness. Arlen was born to Walsh H. Blum and Edith J. Blum on September 26, 1937, in Wenatchee at the Deaconess Hospital. Arlen was one of six children, including a twin who died at birth. He was a Wenatchee High School graduate of the class of 1956. He then enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Lewis and in Thailand at Fort Sann. Arlen was in the Medical Corps. He was honorably discharged December of 1966. Following his military service, he returned to Wenatchee to then be employed at Alcoa for 37 years. He worked in pot lining, as well as a pot-tender. Upon retiring 37 years later, Arlen then had time to enjoy his love for sports. He was a big sports fan, including fastpitch softball. Arlen was a member of United Steel Workers Union, Wenatchee Eagles and Elks. Arlen was liked and loved by many. He loved to sit and visit. He had a quiet nature to himself, until you got to know him. He helped many people at a time of need.

He is survived by two brothers; two sisters; many special nephews and a niece; and was a great-uncle to many calling him by the name of “Uncle, Uncle”.

The family would like to say thank you to the wonderful, caring staff at Central Washington Hospital.

A Funeral Service will be held at Telford’s Chapel of the Valley Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at 3:00 p.m., with Pastor John Sterk officiating. The Service will conclude in the chapel. Viewing will be Tuesday, May 29, 2012 from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Wednesday, May 30, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Wenatchee Valley College Girls’ Fastpitch Softball.
