(Bridgeport, WA) On June 28th at 7:25 AM, a Douglas County deputy sheriff in Bridgeport received information from a concerned citizen that reportedly some juvenile males had been robbed at knife point on June 23nd in Bridgeport but the incident was not reported.  The deputy contacted possible witnesses to begin an investigation.

Investigation revealed that on June 23th around 7:00 PM, three teenage juvenile males were walking in the 400 block of 11th Street in Bridgeport when they were confronted by an 18 year old suspect.  According to witnesses, the suspect was harassing the victims for “skateboarding in his town”.  The suspect reportedly produced a knife and demanded that the victims give him their shirts, hats, and skateboards.  The victims ran from the area being chased by the suspect.  The witnesses followed and caught up with the individuals in the 900 block of Foster Ave. which is a couple of blocks from where the incident started.  By the time the witnesses arrived, the suspect was in possession on the victim’s shirts, hats, and skateboards.

Two of the victims were 17 and 14 years of age and are Bridgeport residents.  The third victim is reportedly a juvenile male from Manson.  As the witnesses approached a vehicle stopped near them, the suspect dropped the stolen property and reportedly pointed a knife at the witnesses.  The witnesses who were Bridgeport residents, ages 19 and 46 then produced a baseball bat and a handgun preparing to defend themselves.  This caused the suspect to put the knife away and leave the area on foot.  The victims retrieved their property and left the area.

The witnesses apparently believed the victims would report the incident to law enforcement and the victims apparently believed the witnesses would call law enforcement.  As a result it was not reported at all.

The deputy was able to identify the suspect with assistance from the witnesses.  The suspect had actually been arrested by a Douglas County deputy on June 26th on an outstanding Douglas County warrant for failure to appear on original charges of MIP, criminal trespass, and resisting arrest.  The suspect had also been identified as a suspect in a residential burglary in Bridgeport on June 15th.  Probable cause statements had been filed against him for that incident for charges of burglary, theft and malicious mischief.  He was still in the Okanogan County Jail at the time of this latest investigation.  New probable cause statements have now been filed against the suspect charging him with three counts of 1st Degree Robbery.  That suspect is Don Crow, 18, of Bridgeport.
