Delbert “Del” Fisk passed away May 2, 2012, at Blossom Creek Memory Care Community in Wenatchee, Washington. Del was born January 26, 1929 in Omaha, Nebraska, son of Leo and Laura (Robbins) Fisk. He attended grade school in Omaha, moved to Kennewick, WA with his family, and graduated from Kennewick High School in 1946. Del entered the Marine Corp July 24, 1946, attained the rank of Corporal and was honorably discharged in 1948, receiving the WWII victory medal.
Del was married to Patricia Kobes in 1953, and 2 children were born to this union; Elizabeth (Betsy) Williams and Andrew (Andy) Fisk. Del attended various colleges including Washington State University where he was initiated into the Acacia Fraternity. In 1959 he obtained degrees in aeronautical and electronic engineering from Northrup Institute of Technology in California. After working in California he and his family returned to Washington when Del was hired by The Boeing Company. Del worked for The Boeing Airplane Company as an Engineering manager from 1960 until he retired in 1984. During this time Del traveled to 54 different countries as the Engineering technical manager for technical interface with airplane customers, and was later manager of Engineering Technical Integration responsible for scheduling tests required for FAA certification of the 727 airplane.
Del married Carolyn Fisk (Van Winkle-Stanley) in 1982 and recently celebrated their 30th anniversary. Carolyn brought 2 children to that marriage; Roger Van Winkle and Sharon King. After retirement they moved to Adrian, Oregon, and then moved to East Wenatchee in 1987. Del was hired as a Contract Engineer for the Douglas County Public Utility District No. 1 in 1988, and was named General Forman in April, 1990. He and Carolyn moved to Forsyth, Montana in 1996 where they resided for 15 years. While in Forsyth Del served on the Forsyth City Council from 2006 to 2007.
Del loved to photograph the wildlife in Montana, and received many ribbons at the Rosebud/Treasure County Fair. He was known by many as “the guy who takes such good pictures”. Woodworking and bread baking were two more hobbies he loved.
Del was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and baby sister, Helen. Del is survived by his wife Carolyn, his sister Hazel Klever of Omaha, Nebraska, daughter Betsy (David) of Enumclaw, Washington, son Andy (friend Bobbi Kinsey) of Port Angeles, Washington, step-son Roger Van Winkle (Shannon) of Fall City, Washington, step-daughter Sharon King (Mike) of Malaga, Washington, 8 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter born February 29, 2012.
