(Orondo, WA) On Wednesday, March 13th at 10:47 AM Douglas County Deputies responded to a report of a large amount of explosives found in the area of Nollmeyer Rd. Near Orondo.  The reporting party stated her company had recently purchased the property and said a previous owner had explosives stored there.

The Deputy found approximately 110 pounds of dynamite, blasting caps, and fuses in a locked shed.  The person who had been licensed to have the explosives had moved and could not be contacted.  The explosives license had expired on 2009.  The Deputy called the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries which is the agency responsible for licensing explosives and explosive handlers.

The investigator there stated he would have the state patrol respond to the scene and dispose of the explosives.  The explosives were in a working orchard in within 150 of an occupied residence.  Deputies stayed at the scene to guard the explosives and keep bystanders away.  When the bomb disposal team arrived all of the explosives were removed.  The case was turned over to Department of Labor in Industries for further investigation.
