(Bridgeport, WA) On May 2nd at 6:45pm a citizen called to report a single car roll-over accident on Pearl Hill Road approximately 1.5 miles east of SR 17 near Bridgeport. The caller reported that he had been fishing when he heard the sound of tires squealing. When he looked toward the noise, he saw a pickup truck roll two to three times and come to rest on its roof. RiverCom dispatched Sheriff’s Deputies, ambulance, and fire units to assist.
The driver, identified as Oscar Cisneros-Bustos, 25 years old of Bridgeport, was found lying on the ground outside the vehicle. He was seriously injured and transported by ambulance to the Three Rivers Hospital in Brewster. The passenger was trapped inside the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The decedent was identified as Edgar Luna-Barajas, 23 years old of Bridgeport.
The Washington State Patrol was on scene to assist the investigation and collected a blood sample from the driver for evaluation by the state toxicology lab. Investigating Deputies found suspected alcohol and marijuana paraphernalia in the collision debris. The items were collected as evidence. The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the possibility that the tragic incident may have been a vehicular homicide. There are no charges at this time and the investigation is continuing. The Sheriff’s Office notified the decedent’s family.
