(Wenatchee, WA) In our area flu season usually begins after the Thanksgiving holidays and peaks in January or February. It looks like the flu season is later this year. A few flu reports have been received from local walk in clinics. Overall flu reports have been less than expected and sporadic across the state. This would be a great time to get that flu shot if you put it off earlier.

If you are ill with flu symptoms, like a fever, cough or sore throat, please do not attend public events or public gatherings where you might spread illness. Parents please do not send an ill child to school or to a child care setting until they are fever free for 24 hours, without using fever reducing medications like tylenol.

The flu can be a very serious illness for some people. Remember to cover your cough with your arm and elbow, wash your hands often, especially after touching your nose or mouth and get a flu shot if you haven’t yet.

Many medical providers and local pharmacies still have flu vaccine available.
