(Ephrata, WA) Grant PUD staff joins the family of Commissioner Randy Allred in mourning the loss of a longtime public servant after receiving notification that Commissioner Allred had passed awaylast Friday morning. His passing comes after learning months ago that his health was declining. Allred was 62 years old.
Interim General Manager Tony Webb shared, “Randy was a great man and will be deeply missed by the Grant PUD family. He believed in giving more to his community than he took and his many years of service were evidence.”
Among his more notable contributions while in office, Allred was instrumental in the successful relicensing process of the Priest Rapids Project, bond refinancing, and major capital upgrades throughout the utility. Possibly not as noticeable, yet just as significant, was his ability to maintain focus on the mission of Grant PUD through challenge and change. His leadership will be missed and his impact on the utility will not soon be forgotten.
Allred served as commissioner since 2003 and was known for his wisdom and no-nonsense ability to represent the interests of Grant County residents.
Demonstrating his commitment to others, Allred commented at one of his final meetings that, “it’s about what’s most helpful for Grant County PUD. It’s not about Randy…it never has been and it certainly isn’t now… The little things don’t matter too much anymore; even the big things are starting to not be such a huge thing.”
