EPHRATA, Wash. – During their Oct. 22 business meeting Commissioners announced three finalists for the District 3 board position that will be left vacant by Randy Allred on Nov. 1. Melva Calloway, Evan Landin, and Larry Schaapman will be introduced to the public next Monday Oct. 29 at 7:00 p.m. at the Quincy Community Center. The meeting provides members of the public a unique opportunity to hear from the three finalists and ask questions prior to any board action.
The three finalists were selected from a pool of “seven very qualified candidates,” according to Board President, Tom Flint. Each candidate was interviewed by the Commission prior to today’s decision. Following the community meeting with the finalists, Commissioners will appoint a candidate to fill the remainder of Commissioner Allred’s unexpired term.
The vacant position on the five-member board represents the southwestern portion of Grant County known as District 3 which covers Mattawa, Quincy, George, Royal City and rural areas west of Moses Lake. All candidates must be a registered voter in the District 3 boundary and qualified to hold elective office under the laws of the State of Washington.
