Joycelyn ReNae Johnson, 61, a longtime Portland resident and longtime R.N. at Portland Adventist Hospital, passed away on Saturday morning, May 26, 2012 at Sunnyside-Kaiser Hospital in Clackamas, following an extended illness.
She was born on August 14, 1950 at Walla Walla, Washington and as an early age moved with her family to Spokane. She was raised in Spokane and attended her first ten grades of school at Spokane Junior Academy, followed by her Junior and Senior years at Upper Columbia Academy, Spangle, Washington. She graduated from U.C.A. in 1968 and continued her education at Walla Walla College in College Place, Washington. She graduated with her Bachelors degree in Nursing and accepted a job at Portland Adventist Hospital in Portland, Oregon. She worked there for many years as a Registered Nurse and Instructor prior to ill health forcing her to work as a part time telephone triage nurse.
She enjoyed the Oregon Coast and camping.
She is survived by her longtime companion, Barry Newbold and his son, Chris of Portland, OR; one sister and one brother. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Graveside Inurnment service will be held at a later date in her families plot.
