Klyda Vern Stallings Hill
December 12, 1923 – July 21, 2012

After a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease, Klyda Vern Stallings Hill, a long time Wenatchee resident, went to be with the Lord on July 21, 2012. Klyda was born at Zion, Arkansas, on December 12, 1923, to Ray and Hildred (Shell) Marsh. She grew up in the nearby town of Melbourne, Arkansas.

After graduating from high school in 1942, Klyda married Charles Stallings. Like many others from Izard County, Arkansas, they decided to move out to Washington in search of a better life. After living briefly in the Seattle area, they eventually settled in Wenatchee where they raised their family and where she continued to live until her death at the age of 88.

In 1986, after the passing of her first husband, Klyda married Cleo Hill who unfortunately passed away shortly after their marriage. For the last nine years of her life, she was a resident at the Highgate Senior Living cottage in Wenatchee.

Klyda had a long and successful career as an employee for two local clothing stores, but the centerpiece of her life was always her church. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, worshiping first in Arkansas and then for many years in Wenatchee. She was actively involved in the Kings Orchard Church of Christ and eagerly supported its numerous activities.

Klyda is survived by her two sons, Gordon (Margie) Stallings of Merced, California, and Dennis (Pricilla) Stallings of Turner, Oregon. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Steven Stallings of Seattle, Jennifer Stallings Brandt of Visalia, California, Lindsay (Joel) Dickson of Merced, California, John (Brandi) Stallings of Merced, California, Andy Stallings of Bend, Oregon, Dustin Stallings of Portland, Oregon and Leia Stallings of Salem, Oregon as well as seven great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and two husbands, Klyda was preceded in death by her sister Joy Marsh Stanford of Arkansas, and brother Hinkle Marsh of Wenatchee.

Klyda loved Jesus, her Arkansas heritage, her sons, cleaning, gospel hymns, the color red and good desserts. She was a special lady and she will be missed.

A graveside service will be held at Wenatchee Cemetery at on Friday, July 27, 2012 at 10:00 AM.

You’re invited to view and leave online condolences on her online guest book at www.HeritageMemorialChapel.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Heritage Memorial Chapel, East Wenatchee.
