Kodi Dawn Marie Martin, 19, died suddenly on November 1, 2012, at her residence in East Wenatchee, WA. Kodi was born on December 13, 1992, to Rick and Hayley (Barnhill) Martin in Wenatchee, WA. She attended Lincoln Elementary in Wenatchee. The family then moved to Plain/Leavenworth, WA, where she attended Icicle River Middle School and Cascade High School, graduating in 2011. Kodi became a member of the Chelan County Fire District #9 when she was 16 years of age. She became the first Cadet of the District #9 Fire Department. As a Cadet, she was able to respond with her “brothers and sisters” in the event of a need to the community. During her senior year at Cascade High School, she was a trainee at District #3 Leavenworth Fire Department and was able to serve the Leavenworth community. Kodi aspired to be a Firefighter-Paramedic, as she was always available to help out in any situation. She attended the Plain Community Church. Kodi was dedicated to the Lord in her baptism when she was just an infant.
Survivors include her parents, Rick and Hayley Martin of Plain; two brothers, Chris Martin and Krystal of Chelan, WA and Cortlin Martin and Kim of Olympia, WA; maternal grandparents, Cliff and Dawn Barnhill of Wenatchee; and paternal grandparents, Don and Julie Schwartz of Hillsboro, KS. She was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Donald and Cleona Diedrich, Clifford and Ella Barnhill and Ernest R. “Bud” and Margaret Telford.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 9, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the Plain Community Church. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Kodi Martin Memorial Fund, benefitting young adults to further their education/training to serve their community through established programs. The Kodi Martin Memorial Fund is established through Cashmere Valley Bank. Arrangements are by Telford’s Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
