March 1 runoff forecast for the Lake Chelan basin is 92 percent of average

lake chelan(Lake Chelan, WA) The forecast for 92 percent of average runoff would result in an estimated 483,092 second-feet-day (SFD), or 957,971 acre-feet, of water to run off between April 1 and July 31. Last year’s actual runoff from April 1 through July 31 was 658,833 SFD, which was 125 percent of average.

Snowpack densities at the below listed sites range from 37-38 percent, while average at this time of year is 36 percent. Precipitation in Stehekin from November through February was 23.4”, which is 105 percent of average and 92 percent of last year’s accumulation at this time.

The Northwest River Forecast Center’s Ensemble Streamflow Prediction (ESP) runoff forecast issued March 4 for the Stehekin River from April through July is 91 percent of average. The ESP runoff forecast for the Columbia River January through July is 89 percent of average at Grand Coulee Dam and 86 percent of average at The Dalles. The January through July ESP runoff forecast is 93 percent of average for the Okanogan River and 93 percent of average for the Wenatchee River
