EPHRATA, WA. – At approximately 3:15pm on Monday December 10th, a structure fire erupted at 1639 C-Street Southwest in Ephrata. Three adults, all of whom were evacuated safely and without injury, occupied the single-family residence.
The Ephrata Fire Department arrived on scene less than five-minutes after being paged by M.A.C.C. Dispatch. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy and rapidly growing flames engulfing the rear of the home and the garage. Ephrata firefighters, aided by units from Fire Districts 7 and 13, were able to contain the fire from spreading to neighboring homes. The residence at 1639 C-Street was, however, a total loss. 23 firefighters were involved in extinguishing the fire. The last units cleared the scene around 7:30pm last night.
Preliminary signs point to the garage as the origin of the fire, however an investigation is still ongoing. It will take several days to complete the investigation. The home did have working smoke detectors.
The Ephrata Fire Department is thankful to the citizens who called 911 to report the fire, and for the excellent mutual-aid provided by Fire Districts 7 and 13. As a community we are blessed to have so many highly trained and committed volunteer firefighters.
