(George, WA) — A 16-year-old Quincy boy is hospitalized in critical condition today after crashing his motorcycle Monday near George.

Around 1 p.m. on April 1, Grant County Sheriff’s Deputies, Fire District #3 EMTs and Protection One Ambulance were called to 1005 Adams Road South. Deputies learned the 16-year-old was driving a Yamaha TTR-230 dirt bike on private property and crashed into a horse pen fence.

The victim, who was not wearing a helmet, was knocked unconscious and suffered a serious head injury. He was flown by MedStar helicopter to Kadlec Medical Center in Tri Cities where he was listed in critical condition this morning.

“This is an awful reminder of the importance of wearing a helmet when driving or riding on motorcycles or other off-road vehicles,” said Sheriff Tom Jones.
