Robbery of bike in Moses Lake, lands boy in juvenile center

(Moses Lake, WA) – A 16-year-old boy in in custody today facing charges related to the theft of a bicycle Monday.

Around 3:15 p.m. April 1, Grant County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to Pershing Road and Arlington Drive in the Larson Housing Area. There they found a 12-year-old boy who reported his $100 Mongoose bicycle was stolen by two other juveniles.

The victim said he was riding across a vacant lot when he was approached by two other boys who threw rocks at him, forcing him to abandon the bicycle. One of the suspects, a 16-year-old boy, then rode off on the bicycle.

A short time later Deputies found the bike together with the 16-year-old suspect. That suspect fought with Deputies who had to subdue him and then lodge him in the Grant County Youth Services Center in Ephrata. That boy is facing charges of second-degree robbery and resisting arrest.
