Robert A. “Bob” Wiley passed away Friday, May 25, 2012, at the age of 95. Bob was born March 14, 1917, in Farmer, WA to Marshal and Elise Wiley. Bob was a wheat farmer and lifelong resident of Douglas County and served as Douglas County Deputy Assessor for 22 years. He married Lorna Longacre on January 11, 1941, at Waterville. Bob and Lorna shared a love of square dancing for 55 of their 71 years of marriage.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Marshal and Elise; two brothers, Charles Wiley and Cecil Wiley; sister, Clara Rack; beloved son, Robert “Ed” Wiley; and son-in-law, Joel Warner. Bob is survived by his wife of 71 years, Lorna; daughter, Myrna Warner; grandson, Ken Warner; granddaughter, Joelene (Todd) Young; daughter-in-law, Tona (Bob) Culver; granddaughters, Crystal (Kevin) Overbay, Tasha (Jim) Rathbun and Jaime (David) Ruddell; and great-grandchildren, Ashley Warner, Cecellia Young, Mikhaela and Kiffen Overbay, Taylor Rathbun and Abigail Ruddell. He is also survived by niece, Penny Mattson; nephew, Philip (Kara) Rack; and numerous nieces and nephews who were dearly loved; brother-in-law, Arnold (Carolyn) Longacre; sister-in-law, Juanita “Aunt Nip” Longacre; special friends, Jeff and Linda Waddell, Steve and Jan Tucker and their “Cody Kids”, Bob and Jill Wolf.
Special thanks to the staff at Bonaventure, where Bob and Lorna have resided for the last two years; and the staff at Central Washington Hospital Hospice.
A Memorial Service will be held at Telford’s Chapel of the Valley on Thursday, May 31, 2012, at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Waterville Ambulance Fund or Central Washington Hospital Hospice. Arrangements are by Telford’s Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
