R. Paul Goodman
February 15, 1951 ~ May 3, 2012
Due to a sudden illness, Paul was called home to be with his Lord and Savior in the early morning of May 3, 2012. Paul was born on February 15, 1951. He was raised in the Wenatchee Valley with his family. Following high school, he married Joann Sprietsma in 1970, where they were blessed with three daughters, while working for Burlington Northern Railroad, until he retired in 1991. After losing his wife to a long fight with cancer, he continued to work on the family orchard with his dad. Then Paul met his wife, Dawn Haven. They were married in August of 1998, and they made their home in East Wenatchee. Paul and Dawn enjoyed their many travels, including their annual trip to the Bass Pro Shop in Las Vegas, and enjoyed taking in the sites and shows. Paul developed a love and passion early in life for softball and Bass fishing. He played men’s slow-pitch, Jack & Jill and church league for many years in the Wenatchee Valley. He also enjoyed coaching women’s slow-pitch. His love for fishing developed in to a LOVE for Blast off at the beginning of every bass tournament. Paul was very active with his church family at Eastmont Baptist Church, where he cherished his time helping with VBS and youth group activities. Paul and Dawn loved the progressive dinners with their Sunday school class and helping with church functions.
Surviving Paul are his wife, Dawn of the home; four daughters, Julie (Dale) Thompson of Colville, Rachel (David) Cooper of Moses Lake, Becca (Jamie) Tolliver of Moses Lake and Lisa (John) Clark of Indiana; nine grandchildren, Cruze, Zak and Colton Thompson, Zachery and Stephanie Cooper, Dalton and Hailey Jo Tolliver and Tyler and Stacy Mayo; his father, Rollin Goodman; two sisters, Patti Goodman and Connie Zollinger; his nephew, Nick Zollinger; Paul’s mother-in-law, “Mom” Babe Sprietsma; and his beloved kids, “puppies” Isaac and Sadie. Preceding Paul in death were his wife, Joann Goodman; his brother, Dean Goodman; and his father-in-law, Johnny Sprietsma.
