Ruth Grace Beatty
Ruth Grace Beatty, 79, a resident of the Entiat Valley for 17 years, died Thursday, April 26, 2012, due to congestive heart failure. She was born on February 28, 1933, to George and Irene (Rezny) Cesal at Chicago, IL, where she was raised and attended schools. She spent her summers at Koontz Lake, IN at the family cottage. She attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN and Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, graduating in 1956 with a BA in Biology. She met Jack L. Beatty at Happy Whirlers Square Dance Club in Chicago. On September 21, 1957, they married in Evanston, IL and made their first home in Chicago. They moved to Colton, CA in 1964, and then to Yucaipa, CA, where they lived from 1965 to 1995, and where she worked as a medical laboratory technologist for many years, until retiring in 1995. While in Yucaipa, CA, she spent some time as a volunteer firefighter for the California Department of Forestry and also as a reader for Audio Vision Radio Reading Service For the Blind. They moved to the Entiat Valley in 1995, where they have since made their home. She worked for the Wenatchee Wal-Mart as a greeter and spent four years as the proofreader for the Entiat Valley Explorer newspaper. She was a member of the Entiat Valley Historical Society; Entiat Women’s Club; Samara’s Foundation for the Blind; the Entiat Food Bank; and the Friends of the Library.
Survivors include her husband, Jack of Entiat; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer Beatty and Joel Fechter of Huntington Beach, CA and Suzanne and Ben Wong of Union City, CA; one son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Maria Beatty of El Paso, TX; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Jack L. Beatty, Jr.; her parents; and one sister, Joan Cesal of Evanston, IL.
A Vigil and Rosary will be held at Telford’s Chapel of the Valley on Sunday, April 29, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 625 S. Elliott, Wenatchee on Monday, April 30, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. Viewing will be Sunday, April 29, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral Home. Arrangements are by Telford’s Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee, WA 98802.
