(East Wenatchee, WA) On Wednesday, September 19th, at 9:03 PM, Douglas County deputies were dispatched to the 2100 block of Canal Blvd. in East Wenatchee in reference to a report of gun shots being fired at someone. The investigation revealed there had been an altercation between two adult males that reside in the area. The suspect was yelling obscenities at the victim and challenging him to fight. When the victim approached the suspect, the suspect allegedly attempted to pull a large knife he was wearing from its sheath. The victim tackled the suspect to prevent him from pulling the knife. The victim struck the suspect in the face with fists and apparently took the knife away from him. There is no indication that the victim attempted to use the knife against the suspect.
The suspect went into his residence and came back out with a small revolver and fired several shots at the victim as he ran from the scene. The victim was not struck by any of the shots. The suspect placed the revolver back inside his residence before deputies arrived.
The suspect was transported by ambulance to Central Washington Hospital because of injuries to his face from being struck with fists during the scuffle. However, the suspect walked away from the hospital before being treated.
Deputies obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s residence and recovered the revolver they believe was used in the shooting. At about 1:10 AM, a deputy observed the suspect walking in the vicinity of Valley Mall Parkway and NE 2nd. Deputies contacted the suspect, James K. Sahhar, 49, of East Wenatchee, and he was arrested and booked into the Chelan County Regional Jail on charges of Assault 1st Degree and Reckless Endangerment.
