Chelan-Sheriff Brian Burnett reports on Friday, August 31st a single engine plane made an emergency landing in the 500 block of Azwell Road, just south of Azwell Dam. The 66 year old pilot, Max Harshman, was not injured during the incident.
Harshman advised he had taken off from the Chelan Airport at approximately 11:30 flying northbound. In the area of Pateros, while flying at approximately 5000 feet, his engine died suddenly. Realizing he would not make it back to the Chelan Airport, he located a roadway and made an emergency landing on the road with no landing gear. There is no personal property damage reported at this time. The plane did come to rest near an outbuilding and gas pumps.
FAA will be handling the investigation.
