(Mansfield, WA) On Saturday, May 25th at approximately 12:20 pm Douglas County Deputies were dispatched to a report of an injured male at a model rocketry event at the Mansfield Sportsman’s Club near Mansfield, Washington. Witnesses stated that a five foot long rocket was launched, but the parachute failed to deploy for the decent. Club officials sounded an alarm and warned viewers to clear the area. One spectator did not move from the impact area. As he was looking up, the model rocket struck him. The male, identified as 45 year old Kenneth Brown of Mead had a cut on his nose and cuts on his chest and abdomen from the falling rocket. Brown was transported to Central Washington Hospital by ambulance to be treated for his injuries.
