(Cle Elum, WA) As of 6:00 PM this evening, the command for the Taylor Bridge Fire incident will be transferred to a Department of Natural Resources Type 4 Team led by Incident Commander Dan Lennon.
Officials plan to update the containment figure from 91% to 100% this evening based upon several key factors. “The containment figure remained at 91% until fire crews had completed our 300 foot mop up within the perimeter of the fire as well as 100 feet around existing structures” stated Incident Commander Alan Lawson. “This additional 9% will be accomplished this afternoon. Because of the number of residences that were threatened, the team utilized Palm Infrared Thermal units to ensure that heat near the containment line and homes were located and extinguished by fire crews prior to determining the fire was 100% contained”.
“DNR crews will continue to monitor and mop up as needed for at least the next week”, stated incoming Incident Commander Dan Lennon. “ We will be utilizing approximately 50 personnel to continue the work, and will be moving the Incident Command Center to the Department of Natural Resources Work Center located in Cle Elum as of tomorrow morning. Internal smokes that do not threaten escape will remain visible in some locations as mop up operations continues”.
