(East Wenatchee, WA) On Sunday, April 21st at 8:26 PM, Douglas County deputies were dispatched to the 1700 block of SE 6th Street in East Wenatchee in reference to a report of a vehicle collision with possible injuries.  The report indicated that the vehicle had struck the garage of a residence.

Investigation revealed that a 17 year old male from East Wenatchee was driving a 2005 Hyundai Sonata west bound on SE 6th Street at a speed much higher than the posted speed limit of 30 mph.  The driver admitted to deputies that he was showing off and was probably going about 80 to 90 mph.  The vehicle encountered a dip in the roadway and the driver lost control.  The vehicle spun around as it crossed the oncoming lane and left the roadway traveling through the yards of two residences before striking the corner of the garage of a residence where it came to rest.  Deputies reported damage to the yards, a water meter, and significant damage to the structure it impacted.

There were two other occupants in the vehicle; an 18 year old Cashmere female who was the owner of the vehicle and a 15 year old East Wenatchee male.  All three occupants reported they were wearing seat belts.  The 15 year old male was a rear seat passenger and complained of some pain from hitting his head.  He did not require medical treatment at the time of the call.  There were no other injuries reported.

The 17 year old driver was arrested for reckless driving and reckless endangerment and booked into Chelan County Juvenile Detention.  He was also cited for violating his instruction permit.
