Dr. Thomas R. Milliette

November 6, 1930 ~ July 17, 2012

Dr. Thomas Russell Milliette passed from this earth peacefully on July 17, 2012, to join the Almighty Father in Heaven, along with his parents and sister, Barbara. Tom’s last days were at home surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born on November 6, 1930, in Milwaukee, WI to Dr. Gerald Thomas and Florence Shields Milliette. Tom was a graduate of Marquette University and Marquette University Dental School. Tom married his high school sweetheart, Ann Gerrety (Kuhl) on August 2, 1952, before enlisting in the United States Navy as a commissioned Lieutenant JG officer of the Dental Corps. The Navy took Tom and his young family to San Diego, CA, Kodiak Island, AK and Walnut Creek, CA, before being honorably discharged in 1958. The family then moved to the Northwest and located their home in Manson, WA on the shores of Lake Chelan. The Chelan Valley became the family’s location for 48 years, where Tom operated a successful dental practice for 37 years, before retiring in 1996. Tom and Ann moved to East Wenatchee in 2006, where they enjoyed their many friends and wonderful views of Mission Ridge, the Cascades and the Wenatchee Valley. Tom enjoyed music in addition to being an avid outdoorsman who spent great times hunting and fishing with colleagues and Baron, his Labrador companion. These outings found Tom (and Baron) bringing home the occasional duck, goose or fish to Ann’s surprise! Tom was also passionate about skiing, sailing, golfing and boating. He never ventured too far from the water, hard or soft, whether flying, boating or skiing. Tom got his private pilot’s license and soon owned an amphibious aircraft that would make any hunting trip an adventure, or just a relaxing fishing venture to the upper reaches of Lake Chelan. Tom and Ann enjoyed many summer days and nights on the Lake and at their Stehekin River Resort cabin with family and friends. Tom and Ann started their family skiing at Echo Valley and later, Mission Ridge Ski Area near Wenatchee, where Tom became a PSIA Certified Instructor/Examiner and the Assistant Ski School Director, while Ann taught as a PSIA Associate Instructor. Tom instilled the love of skiing to his family, who enjoy the mountains to this day.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Ann; his four sons, Michael of Wenatchee, Mark (Judy) of Leavenworth, Merrill (Pam) of Colville and Mitchell (Glenda) of Chelan; daughter, Muffin of Wenatchee; and sister, Mary Ellen (Ken) Gorske of Indio, CA; in addition to seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

There will be a Memorial Mass Service for Tom at the Holy Apostles Catholic Church, East Wenatchee on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Hospice Care, c/o Central Washington Hospital Foundation, 518 N. Chelan Avenue, Wenatchee, WA 98801, (509) 888-3932; The Dick Slaugenhaupt Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 366, Chelan, WA 98816; or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are by Telford’s Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
