Two hurt in rollover crash north of Moses Lake

(Moses Lake, WA) On Thursday, January 09, 2014 at approximately 8:30 am, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Personnel responded to a one vehicle rollover collision on Stratford Rd NE in the 12000 block.

Franklin Henspeter, 69, of Grand Coulee, was driving his 2000 GMC Jimmy southbound on Stratford Rd on the extremely icy roadway. He lost control of his vehicle and slid off the east side of the roadway. The Jimmy rolled three times through a dry irrigation canal, coming to rest on its wheel.

Both Franklin and his passenger, Tommas Schloss, 63, of Grand Coulee were trapped in the car. Grant County Fire District 5 extricated them from the vehicle and they were transported by ambulance to Samaritan Hospital.

Franklin suffered a ruptured spleen and was being held at Samaritan Hospital. Tommas suffered a broken arm and broken back and was also being held at Samaritan Hospital. Both occupants were wearing their seatbelt at the time of the collision.

The vehicle was a total loss as a result of the collision. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office Motor Traffic Unit investigated the collision.
