(Bridgeport, WA) On Thursday Decenber 13th, at 11:40 AM, Douglas County deputies were advised of a burglary that had just been interrupted at a residence in the 2300 block of Tacoma Ave. in Bridgeport. The victims reported they had just returned home to find two juvenile males burglarizing their residence. The suspects fled out the back door carrying stolen property.
Sergeant Kevin Morris and Deputy Gary Cooper were both on duty in Bridgeport when this call was dispatched. They responded immediately and with descriptions and information provided by the victims and witnesses they were able to locate both of the suspects on foot within a few blocks of the burglary scene. The suspects had split up running in different directions as they fled. Both suspects were located and detained by 11:52 AM. The suspects had some stolen property still in their possession and had thrown down some items as they fled. A canine unit from the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office responded to help search for the stolen property that had been discarded by the suspects.
Deputies recovered stolen property that included 2 rifles, ammunition, a folding knife, jewelry, cash and coins.
The suspects, both 16 year old males from Bridgeport were arrested and booked into Chelan County Juvenile Detention on charges of burglary 1st degree, theft 3rd degree and 2 counts of theft of firearms.
