Lake Wenatchee, Wash…— A massive winter storm continues to impact the Stevens Pass and Lake Wenatchee areas. Because of the very high risk of falling trees and on-going hazardous conditions, the Wenatchee River Ranger District has closed the areas in and around Sno-Parks located at Fish Lake and the Fish Lake Airstrip.
The skier Sno-Park located on Chiwawa Loop Road is also closed due to hazardous conditions.
Heavy snowfall has brought down hundreds of trees and residents in the Lake Wenatchee, Fish Lake, and Plain communities continue to be without electricity.
The Wenatchee River Ranger District, in collaboration with the Lake Wenatchee State Park and Chelan County PUD #1, ask that snowmobilers and skiers please refrain from using the Sno-Parks and trails adjacent to these areas so equipment and emergency operations to restore power may be safely staged.
The Fish Lake and Airstrip Sno-Parks will remain closed until conditions improve. Any people trying to recreate in the area need to be extremely cautious of the extreme dangers posed by falling trees and prepared for severe winter weather.
